Vanadium flow batteries are energy storage devices that realize mutual conversion between electrical energy and chemical energy through electrochemical reactions of vanadium ions in different valence states in the positive and negative electrolytes. The aqueous electrolyte operates at room temperature and pressure with no risk of thermal runaway, making vanadium flow batteries the energy storage solution with the highest safety factor currently available.
