Hydrogen is safely stored through reversible adsorption reactions between metal and hydrogen (forming metal hydrides). Efficient and safe hydrogen adsorption and desorption can be achieved at room temperature and under pressure below 1 MPa.
Compared with high-pressure hydrogen storage, solid-state hydrogen storage technology features higher volumetric hydrogen density, zero leakage risk and long cycle life. It is especially suitable for safe and clean hydrogen supply in communications, electric power, emergency and mobile energy scenarios.
